Problem statement

Objective

What is the system designed to do?

Inputs

Outputs

Rescue services are unable to move faster and arrive in time  during emergencies due to traffic congestion on roadways. The traffic light is designed so that we may be able to let the rescue vehicles such as ambulance to arrive at its destination as quickly as possible without having to face high traffic density. The sensors will detect the presence of rescue vehicles through the RFID and sound sensor will detect the siren's frequency (indicating the rescue vehicles is on that lane), then the traffic light will turn green (for traffic light which the initial colour is red). In this design, we will use two sensors which are the Mifare RC522 RFID kit and the sound sensor.

To control the traffic when ambulances are arriving towards the signal.

1. Detect the presence of the rescue vehicle

The Mifare RC522 RFID kit will detect the rescue vehicle coming to operate the sound sensor (when the sound sensor works, it means the rescue vehicle is on that specific lane). The RFID tags are affixed to the rescue vehicles and the RFID reader will detect or track the RFID tags when the rescue vehicle is in the RFID reader sensing range between 0-0.3cm.

2. Detecting the siren's frequency from the rescue vehicles.

When the rescue vehicle is in the sensor range, the output will be HIGH and otherwise will happen if the rescue vehicle is not in the sensor range. For ambulance, time range to detect the siren’s frequency is around 10-15 sec which when the frequency is at it medium-highest range only then it will change. For fire truck, time range is 5-10 sec which is quicker than ambulance because of its frequency is higher than ambulance. After detecting the siren's frequency, the traffic will change from red to green, the LCD will show up the "EMERGENCY" and also the timer.

1.  The presence of the rescue vehicles  coming from.

2.  The siren's frequency of rescue vehicles.

1. Display desired time (eg: 60sec max) and "EMERGENCY" if both sensor are HIGH but display "have a nice day" if both input are LOW.

2. ALL LED (indicates green light) will light up indicates that both sensor are HIGH.

*in real life, sound sensor is 100m away from traffic light and rfid is 30m away from sound sensor (130m away from traffic light) for 90 sec*
